It's just that a few major cities are getting hit right now that the media is all over it. People are going crazy right now if they don't have their TV to stay on top of the media. At our shop we do<a>TV Repairs in Sydney</a> and people go crazy if they don't get their stuff fixed in time to stay on top of the news. Living in New Zealand I thought to myself at the time "I hope I never get to see what would happen to a city in New Zealand" Then of course our Christchurch got hit not once but twice with very large quakes. It's unbelievable the power of the earth and it is just so easy to watch it on television and think that it could never happen to you. But you betcha that it can!
